Summary:

Reporting to the President and CEO of Easterseals, the Vice President of Development is responsible for leading multi-faceted development department to grow philanthropic support and mission impact for Easterseals National office and its nationwide network of affiliates.  The Vice President of Development is responsible for priority philanthropic revenue streams focusing Devon: direct response (direct mail and digital fundraising), corporate and foundation underwriting and cause marketing, philanthropic operations and support to the affiliate network on individual giving (focused on major and planned gifts), foundations and event fundraising. 

The Vice President of Development will work collaboratively with board of directors and stakeholders across the Easterseals network to understand strategic priorities of the organization and set appropriate revenue goals to achieve those priorities.  This position is part of the executive leadership team and will work closely with other team members to advance an integrated fundraising plan, as well as lead a team of professionals in meeting or exceeding the overall annual fundraising revenue goal.

Additionally, the Vice President of Development will diversify and expand the pipeline to maximize revenue opportunities around the 100th anniversary of Easterseals in 2019 and serving as a catalyst for growing sustainable philanthropic revenue.

Basic Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

Manage the annual fundraising plan with strategic goals, objectives and methods to achieve philanthropic revenue goals.

Increase and diversify Easterseals fundraising revenue to achieve the organization’s strategic goals with a focus on growing cause marketing and digital fundraising revenue.

Advance a strategic fundraising plan that engages funders to build support of Easterseals organization-wide to dramatically increase philanthropic revenue from: direct response (direct mail and digital fundraising), corporate and foundation underwriting and cause marketing. Also through fundraising support to Affiliates, help grow local individual giving (major and planned gifts), foundations and event revenue. 

Develop and manage annual development budgets, and set strategic plans, goals and objectives for development growth across assigned channels.

Partner closely with President and CEO to cultivate, solicit, and steward plans for priority prospective and current major partners.

Meet with potential and current partners and donors and engage them in the mission and case for Easterseals and Affiliates combined.

Work with members of the Development department to create a robust fundraising pipeline primarily focused on multi-faceted partnership opportunities with an emphasis on leveraging cause marketing and online fundraising as growth opportunities.

Actively work with Easterseals leadership, Board members, senior staff and Affiliate leadership in fundraising opportunities.

Provides leadership to the Development department and directly manage and evaluate department staff.

Contribute to an organizational culture of innovation, stewardship and exemplary performance.

Understand and endorse the mission and values of Easterseals.

Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in national fundraising with demonstrated success in building and managing a robust fundraising program

  • Primary experience in fundraising with a national or global nonprofit. Experience in working within an affiliate or chapter model is preferred

  • Knowledge of and experience in managing diverse revenue streams including direct mail, online fundraising, corporate cause marketing, foundation and mid-level and major donors. Demonstrated success in corporate cause marketing and online fundraising is key

  • Proven track record directly soliciting and stewarding multi-year, multi-faceted, seven-figure gifts from corporate partners/cause marketers

  • Experience in project management, budgeting, data management, personnel, and reporting

  • Ability to lead a high performing team and work in a fast-paced and evolving environment

  • Ability to meet deadlines and goals while balancing multiple projects

  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills

  • Outstanding presentation and engagement skills

  • Computer literate and competent with Microsoft Office Professional package including demonstrated proficiency in Word, PowerPoint and Excel

  • Ability to travel

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree required

Nonprofit experience required

CFRE or ACFRE preferred

10+ years’ experience in development/fund-raising preferred

An understanding of social service and disability services a must
